Saturday in the kitchen...before & after...

And now for something a little different...I finally have some photos of the kitchen I redesigned and refreshed with new cabinets, counters and faucet. The enamel sink stayed and there is still work to be done as you will see, but, for the most part, a fantastic improvement on the old metal cabinets.

BEFORE:

An old lake house built before the turn of the century...

DURING above, taking out the dishwasher...

Upper cabs will be taken off the wall...

AFTER:

The Enamel sink and Kohler Fairfax faucet in chrome...

New counters, pulls and cabinets...

We took out the upper cabs where you see the plate on the wall - they took up a lot of space and really weren't very useful...

There are still details and accessories to add, but the homeowner is thrilled with the results...so am I!! Have a great Saturday!

New lampshade...

I have finally replaced my red lampshade in my bedroom, which I liked, but, since painting a couple of tables a spa blue color and putting 'Urban Walls' decals up, it was time for a color change. What do you think?

BEFORE:

Sorry, you can only just see it here, but...

AFTER -

Voila! the new shade...very pretty! It was a steal at Target for $10.00!!

I love it!

Have a great Friday!!

The fabulous Parsons...

I am so excited to finally show you my new desk - the before and after, only the before desk was so hideous I covered it with some beautiful fabric from Israel.  I love the look, but my new desk is super comfortable and a good size, not to mention stylish! See for yourself...

The Before...

I will find another use for my beautiful fabric...

The After...

My little blogging HQ looks a little dull in the pic, not as 'dressed up' as before, but, it is a great desk...(boy do I need to clean out some stuff!!)

Hope you are having a great week!

Sunday brunch...

Ok, I am very late again posting, so I hope you don't mind...here is one of my all time favorites for brunch, lunch or even dinner! Blueberry pancakes - who doesn't love 'em?? Here is a fab recipe from scratch to try next Sunday!

Mmmm, yum...below are the ingredients needed and the recipe:

1/2 cup buckwheat flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tbs sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup frozen egg product or 1 egg slightly beaten
1 1/4 cup buttermilk or sour milk
1 tbs cooking oil
1/4 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup fresh/frozen blueberries thawed

1. In a medium bowl, stir together buckwheat whole wheat, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture; set aside.

2. In a small bowl, beat egg slightly, stir in buttermilk, oil and vanilla. Add buttermilk mixture all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until combined but still lumpy. Then stir in blueberries.

3. Heat a lightly greased griddle or heavy skillet over medium heat until a few drops of water sprinkled on the griddle dance across the surface. Pour 1/4 cup batter on the griddle.

4. Cook over medium heat until pancakes are brown, turning to cook second sides when bubbly, and edges are slightly dry. Serve immediately. Will serve 6.

I love this one...didn't need any 'picniking'...;-)

The colors will really start changing in the next few days...

Have a great Wednesday!

Fabulous Fabric Friday...Lee Jofa

It finally felt like fall here today in New England, and I was thinking about fabrics to post about. I am still seeing antlers in design everywhere, so...there is something kind of seasonal about this fabric and its one of my favorites that I posted about last year so I decided to highlight it today.  I bought 3 or 4 yards of this gorgeous fabric which is a darkish green, but you can't tell from the photo. Don't you think it belongs in a home out west, a lodge, ranch or lake house?
